Metropolitan Police officer charged with multiple sex offences, including rape

A Metropolitan Police officer, PC Dion Arnold, is facing multiple charges of sex offenses, including rape. The Met Police revealed that Arnold is accused of four counts of rape, two counts of assault by penetration, and one count of sexual assault. He was apprehended by Surrey Police on 29 March.

These charges stem from a report filed earlier this year, with the alleged incidents occurring while Arnold was off duty. Arnold, who is assigned to the South West Command Unit, appeared at Guildford Magistrates’ Court and has been remanded in custody until his next court appearance at Guildford Crown Court on 1 May.

The Met Police’s Directorate of Professional Standards has been notified, and Arnold has been suspended from his duties, according to the force.

Several Liverpool FC players are expected to attend the funeral of Diogo Jota and his brother Andre Silva in Portugal on Saturday. The 28-year-old Portugal international and his brother passed away in a tragic crash in Zamora, northwestern Spain. The crash occurred just 11 days after Mr. Jota’s wedding to his partner Rute Cordoso, with whom he had three children. The bodies of the brothers have been repatriated to Portugal for the funeral, which is scheduled to take place at the Igreja Matriz de Gondomar church in their hometown. Liverpool players, many of whom are still on summer break, are likely to attend the funeral, with reports suggesting that the club has organized a flight to Portugal for them. Liverpool has not officially confirmed any arrangements for the players’ attendance. The funeral for Mr Jota and Mr Silva is set to take place on Saturday, with Liverpool players expected to attend the service in Gondomar.Mr Jota, who joined Liverpool from Wolves last summer, scored 33 goals in all competitions in his debut season at Anfield. Mr Silva, his younger brother, played for Gondomar SC in Portugal’s fifth tier.Both brothers were found dead at their family home last weekend, with police treating their deaths as a domestic incident. Liverpool stars will attend the funeral of a footballer and his brother, with Nottingham Forest’s Jota Silva and Jota’s former Wolves and Portugal team-mate Joao Moutinho among the mourners. The president of the Portuguese Football Federation and Porto president also visited, while the country’s president and prime minister attended the wake. Tearful tributes were also paid at Anfield, where fans left flowers, shirts, scarves, and cards at a temporary shrine for Mr Jota. Former Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson laid down flowers and signed a book of condolence, describing Mr Jota as «a pleasure to be around» and expressing gratitude for everything he brought into the world.
