Racing commentator John Hunt has returned to the airwaves three days after witnessing the killer of his wife and two of his daughters jailed for the rest of his life.

Kyle Clifford was handed a whole-life order at Cambridge Crown Court on Tuesday for murdering his ex-partner Louise Hunt, her sister Hannah and their mother Carol with a crossbow and knife on 9 July last year.

The 26-year-old defendant refused to attend his sentencing and Mr Hunt delivered a message to the killer in court, telling him hell will «roll the red carpet out for you».

On Friday Mr Hunt returned to work on BBC Radio 5 Live to cover the Cheltenham Festival.

The court proceedings were not mentioned during his introduction to the programme.

Mr Hunt held back tears throughout his statement to the court on Tuesday, telling Clifford: «The screams of hell, Kyle. I can hear them faintly now. They’re going to roll the red carpet out for you.»

He described Clifford as a «psychopath» and added: «The impact of what you have done will be taken to my grave.»

Mr Hunt also vowed to «see what my future is» as he said his daughter Hannah «handed me a second chance» by raising the alarm before her death.

He added: «Whilst I am badly damaged, I am absolutely determined to see what my future is surrounded by so many amazing people, and the chance to do that, I firmly believe, has been gifted to me by my incredible Hansie (Hannah Hunt).

«I really believe that had she not managed to show such amazing physical and mental strength in raising the alarm after you, Kyle, fatally injured her, that I would have been your fourth victim that day.

«Hannah handed me a second chance, one that she worked so hard to achieve for me.»

Clifford became «enraged» when Louise ended their 18-month relationship, prosecutors said, leading him to «carefully» plan the murders.

He gained access to the family home by deceiving Carol Hunt before stabbing her to death in a «brutal knife attack».

After killing Ms Hunt he «lay in wait» for an hour until Louise entered the house, when he restrained, raped and murdered her with a crossbow.

He then fatally shot Hannah Hunt when she returned to the property in Bushey, Hertfordshire, after work.

Dozens of Members of Parliament are urging Sir Keir Starmer to promptly establish a visa program similar to the one implemented for Ukrainians for Gazans with relatives in the UK. In an exclusive letter obtained by Sky News, 67 MPs and Lords from various political backgrounds have called on the Prime Minister and Home Secretary Yvette Cooper to introduce a «Gaza Family Scheme» to facilitate the reunion of Palestinians with their loved ones in the UK until it is safe for them to return. The letter emphasizes the need for the UK to show the same compassion to Palestinian families as it did to those fleeing persecution in Ukraine and Hong Kong. Numerous Members of Parliament are urging Starmer to promptly establish a visa scheme similar to the one in Ukraine for Gazans. Labour MP Marsha de Cordova, in collaboration with the Gaza Families Reunited campaign, emphasized the importance of a Gaza Family Visa Scheme as a demonstration of the government’s commitment to assisting families affected by conflict. The MPs highlighted the devastating toll of the conflict in Gaza, with thousands of Palestinians killed and many families separated. They pointed out the challenges faced by Palestinians trying to navigate the immigration system, urging the government to take action to reunite families and provide support for those in need. The letter also emphasized the UK’s responsibility towards Palestinians in Gaza and called for accountability for Israel’s actions. Ghassan Ghaban, spokesperson for Gaza Families Reunited, stressed the importance of family unity as a fundamental human right and urged the government to prioritize the safety of British Palestinians and their relatives. He highlighted the need for the UK to extend support to Palestinians in Gaza, similar to the assistance provided to other refugees from conflict zones.
