A tragic incident occurred in Kent where a child lost their life and another was hospitalized following a house fire. Kent Fire and Rescue Service (KFRS) responded promptly with six fire engines and a height vehicle dispatched to a property in Hamstreet, near Ashford. The fire, described as intense by KFRS, had spread throughout the home.

KFRS chief executive, Ann Millington, expressed deep condolences to all affected by the tragedy, particularly the loved ones of the child.

As the situation unfolds, two fire engines and crews are currently on-site working to «dampen down» the property.

Initially, residents and passersby were advised to close windows and doors due to smoke, but this recommendation has since been lifted.

An investigation into the fire’s cause is ongoing to shed light on this tragic event.
