Two additional individuals, one of whom is a 17-year-old boy, have been taken into custody on suspicion of murder following a fatal incident in Barnsley.
Authorities were alerted by the ambulance service regarding a collision involving a Volkswagen Touareg and a pedestrian on Rose Tree Avenue in the Cudworth area of Barnsley at approximately 4:55pm on Friday.
The pedestrian, identified as a 45-year-old man, tragically passed away at the scene, as reported by South Yorkshire Police.
The victim’s family has been notified and is currently receiving support from law enforcement officials.
A 60-year-old man and a 38-year-old woman were apprehended on Friday on suspicion of murder and remain in custody.
On Saturday, a 17-year-old boy and a 33-year-old man were also arrested on the same charges and are currently in police custody, according to the authorities.
Detective Chief Inspector Simon Cartwright has urged anyone with information regarding the incident to come forward and assist with the investigation.
He emphasized that the investigation into «this tragic incident is still in its early stages, and our primary concern is with the victim’s family, friends, and loved ones.»
«Law enforcement officials will continue their inquiries in Rose Tree Avenue,» he added.
A crime scene has been established in the area to facilitate further investigations by the police.
