Sir Keir Starmer has expressed his concern over the increasing hatred following a terror attack on a Manchester synagogue. He pledged that Britain would unite to support the Jewish community in the wake of this tragic event.

The Prime Minister highlighted the heinous nature of the attack, which took place on Yom Kippur, a sacred day for the Jewish community. He condemned the act of terrorism that targeted individuals simply because of their Jewish faith.

Tragically, two members of the Jewish community lost their lives, and three others sustained serious injuries in the attack at the Heaton Park Hebrew Congregation Synagogue in Crumpsall. The perpetrator was fatally shot by the police, and the incident has been confirmed as an act of terrorism.

Sir Keir emphasized the need for round-the-clock protection for Jewish buildings in the UK due to the persistent threat of antisemitic hatred. He acknowledged the resurgence of this hatred and called for collective efforts to combat it.

In response to the emergency Cobra meeting, Sir Keir assured the Jewish community of enhanced security measures, including increased police presence to safeguard their well-being. He vowed to demonstrate the compassionate and supportive side of Britain in the coming days.

The Home Secretary, Shabana Mahmood, expressed horror at the antisemitic attack and pledged to take all necessary measures to ensure the safety of the Jewish community. Greater Manchester Mayor Andy Burnham commended the swift response of emergency services and urged solidarity with the Jewish community.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu extended his condolences to the UK’s Jewish community, emphasizing the importance of strength and unity in the face of terrorism. The international community stands in solidarity with those affected by this tragic event.

As the nation grapples with the aftermath of this senseless act of violence, it is imperative that we stand together against hatred and division. Let us reaffirm our commitment to a society where all individuals feel safe, secure, and valued.
