A Scottish lawyer who relocated to the United States to pursue her ambition of becoming a defense attorney has tragically lost her life in Los Angeles, as per investigators. Friends and family have initiated a fundraiser to bring back the remains of June Bunyan, aged 37, who was fatally attacked at her home on September 11.
The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner disclosed that Ms. Bunyan sustained severe «traumatic neck injuries.» The Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) has apprehended a suspect, Jonathan Renteria, 25, on charges of murder, mutilation, and inappropriate contact with human remains.
A crowdfunding campaign has been established by Vicky Tulika, a friend of Ms. Bunyan, to assist her family in covering the costs of repatriation and funeral arrangements. The campaign has already raised over £5,000. In a heartfelt message, Vicky wrote, «With unimaginable heartbreak, we share the devastating news that our beloved daughter, sister, niece, cousin, and friend, June Bunyan, was tragically taken from us due to a violent crime in the United States. Our lives are forever changed.»
The FCDO is offering assistance to Ms. Bunyan’s family and is coordinating with local authorities in the U.S. to address the situation. Ms. Bunyan, a graduate of Robert Gordon University, was known for her vibrant personality, infectious laugh, and deeply compassionate heart, according to Vicky’s tribute. Ms. Tulika expressed that Ms. Bunyan, who was raised on Arran Island, was pursuing her dream of becoming a defense attorney before her life was cut short far from home.
«We are now faced with the heartbreaking task of bringing her back to the UK. She can then be laid to rest with the dignity and love she deserves, surrounded by family and friends,» Vicky added. A spokesperson for the FCDO stated, «We are supporting the family of a British woman who has died in the USA and are in contact with the local authorities.»
