Ten British «far-right activists» have been banned from France for «reconnaissance and destruction activities» against small boats used in migrant crossings. The country’s interior ministry stated that these individuals were part of the Raise the Colours movement.
Raise the Colours informed Sky News that they have not officially been notified of the bans and reiterated that their activities must remain peaceful and within the bounds of the law. The French ministry specified that the 10 individuals engaged in reconnaissance and destruction activities against small boats and propaganda along the French coastline.
These activists, who remain unnamed, participated in operations in the Nord and Pas-de-Calais areas in December. They are now prohibited from entering and staying in France. The ministry mentioned that these actions were intended for a British audience to enhance the movement and halt migration.
Videos shared by Raise the Colours in December showcase members of the group in France aiming to prevent small boats used by migrants from illegally crossing the English Channel. One video from December 5th depicts the destruction of an inflatable small boat with the caption, «Some people say ‘Stop The Boats’ we actually STOP THE BOATS.»
The group gained prominence last summer by displaying the Union Flag and St George’s flag across the country, symbols not commonly seen outside of sporting, royal, or military events. According to their website, Raise the Colours is a lawful, civic movement. They clarified that while individuals related to their movement have filmed events in northern France to uncover illegal Channel crossings, they do not endorse or support actions like approaching migrant vessels.
In response to the bans, Raise the Colours stated that they have not received any official notification regarding administrative measures. They emphasized that any official correspondence concerning specific individuals will be reviewed through the appropriate channels. The group maintains that their activities must remain peaceful and lawful, disavowing violence or unlawful behavior.
Sky News has reached out to the Home Office for further comment on this matter.
