Labour MP Stella Creasy was harassed by a man on the London underground, and she expressed her gratitude to the passengers who came to her aid. Ms. Creasy, a member of parliament since 2010, shared on her X and Facebook accounts that those who assisted her should contact her office if they are willing to be witnesses to the incident.
«If you were one of the passengers on the Victoria Line who intervened to stop a man from harassing me, thank you from the bottom of my heart,» she said. «Please reach out to my office if you are willing to be a witness, as perhaps the police will listen to you about him now!»
This is not the first time Ms. Creasy has faced harassment. Back in 2013, she received numerous rape threats and misogynistic messages on her Twitter feed after supporting feminist activist Caroline Criado Perez’s campaign to have a woman featured on the £10 note from the Bank of England. In 2023, Ms. Creasy disclosed that she was investigated by her local council following a complaint from a man using an alias, alleging that her «extreme views» could harm her children and they should be removed from her care.
The complaint was ultimately dismissed, and the man, who had no personal connection to Ms. Creasy or her children, offered an apology. However, the Labour MP was left with a social services record due to the malicious report made by the man, who was later convicted of harassing her. In a separate incident in June last year, Ms. Creasy’s office was vandalized, and malicious leaflets were circulated. The Metropolitan Police launched an investigation into the criminal damage at her office.
